Journey to New Mexico, Part II

We did so many fun things in New Mexico, including hanging out more with my wonderful in-laws.  We went on probably my favorite hike ever at Tsankawi, which is part of Bandalier.  On this hike you can climb ladders, walk the well worn paths tread into stone from centuries ago and marvel at the pictographs.  And on our last day, we visited the Albuquerque Zoo with our new nephew, who is the most adorable ever (though I might be a bit biased).   Enjoy the pics!

Admiring the view

Awwww

What is it about flamingos that are just cool?

Aren't I an adorable stinker?

Having some bath-time fun!

Baby Amani was actually born on our wedding day

He might be able to tear me to bits, but he seems like he would give the best hugs ever

Journey to New Mexico Part. 1

Back in November (yes, yes, you can all yell at me about being bad about updating this blog....but later, after you enjoy all the wonderful pictures...) we headed back to New Mexico to see family and friends for a short visit.  One of the places we stopped at was Shidoni Foundry and Sculpture Park in the small town of Tesuque and we had a blast seeing all the amazing art.  This place has not only the working foundry (which you can tour and watch them cast the bronzes), but also an art gallery and blown glass gallery.  The lady working there was wonderful, and answered all of our questions about casting as well as let us take pictures of the artwork.  We were even allowed to pick some apples off the centuries old trees.  I'll stop writing so you can get to admire some of the beautiful artwork we saw.  I definitely encourage you to stop by and visit.

Who doesn't love giraffes?

This fellow would make for a stylish ride around town

Yes...I like to make silly expressions

Finally wrestled the camera away from the hubby and got to take pictures of him and stop the ones of me

This picture doesn't do this sculpture justice

Really would have loved to buy this one.  The colors were amazing.

Again, it's hard to capture the scale and beauty of this sculpture in photo form.  This one was probably my favorite.

Happy Birthday, Ms. Calypso!

Today is Calypso's 16th Birthday!  I've had her since I was 13, and we've been through a lot of moves and major life changes together.  She's been the most wonderful cat a person could want, and is still going strong today, having lost none of her attitude or vocals.

One Year Down

So the other day, we celebrated our one year anniversary.  This year has passed by in a blur, so it's hard to believe we already have a year of marriage under our belts.  Scotland almost seems like a dream, and I can't wait until we go back.  Here's a couple of photos from a year ago (all photos by genjip).

And here is us on our one year anniversary.

We celebrated by going to Green Bluffs, where there is over 40 farms, most of which are open to the public.  We got apples, peaches, nectarines, onions, garlic, apple cider made from the first apples of the season (deliciously tart), caramels made from local fruit and we did a wine tasting at Townsend, and brought home a bottle.  We enjoyed a nice meal outside for dinner and took a small sip of Scotch out of our Quaich in remembrance of the wishes we and our guests made at the wedding.  All in all, a nice way to celebrate.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Today, the pups turn 1.  In honor, here is a bunch of photos showing them from the first night we brought them home at 7 weeks, to them celebrating their first birthday!

The Baz-man

Showing off his roaching skills from an early age

One of our few pics of them together not in a blur of playing

Basil showing off his couture hair-style

Close-up of said hairstyle with a yawn for added cuteness
The first night we brought them home

Basil will use any height he can get to his advantage...including my back

Nero is a dirty fighter

But now it's Basil's turn to sneak up on him

I don't know how Nero is so photogenic!

Nero loves giving kisses

Rowr!

"We really are innocent little angels"

"What?  This laundry isn't for us to play in?  But it's so fun!!"

See any similarity between him and the ornament behind him?

They all know when a present is for them

'How's my hair?"

So happy birthday, boys, we love you!!

Nero showing off his toy-snatching skills.  He lets Basil do all the legwork to get it, and then he just steals it.
